As counselors, we have many ethical mandates. We often find ourselves focusing on important mandates like avoiding dual relationships, holding records for the appropriate number of years and how to advertise our practices. But as helpers, we tend to think of others first. But what about the ethical mandate to engage in self-care and avoid compassion fatigue? As we are in the business of helping support and care for others, we must be at our best, and that requires caring for ourselves. The old airline directive to put the oxygen mask on yourself before applying it to others applies.
This seminar will look at ACA and LPC ethics through the lens of self-care and attending to compassion fatigue and burnout. Join us for your annual ethics review with a new twist on important standards.
December 5th, 8:30-12:30 pm at Third Space Therapy Offices
3 Hour Session | 3 CEU Credits Available
The world of intellectual and developmental disabilities is wide and varied. The issues that individuals bring with them to counseling are just as variable. Many practitioners identify Autism as a disability, but this is only one subset of the diagnosis. And not everyone with Autism even qualifies for DD or ID. How can you help support these individuals. Many of these individuals exhibit challenging behavioral patterns, which may baffle and frustrate their caregivers.
With more than 15 years of experience working with individuals identified with ID, the speaker will support therapists with both data and diagnostic information as well as best practices for therapeutic approaches.
November 7th, 8:30-12:30 pm at Third Space Therapy Offices

The candidacy process! We’ve all been there. All those (expensive) classes and time! Studying for and passing the exams then hours of candidacy. It’s a stressful time. And they are going to be practicing soon. How can we provide supportive supervision to help our candidates learn, grow and thrive.
This seminar will review Supervision through a supportive lens that will make all practitioners in our field stronger.
